Have you heard? 3 facts you probably didn't know about your hearing health.

Updated: Nov 17, 2022

1. HEARING AIDS ARE NOT JUST FOR THE ELDERLY

It's true: age is the strongest predictor of hearing loss. But, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), of the 466 million people worldwide who suffer from hearing loss, it is estimated that 34 million of these are children (7%). It also estimates that 1.1 billion young people (between 12–35 years old) are at risk of hearing loss due to exposure to noise in recreational settings. Good hearing and communication are important at all stages of life.

2. HEARING LOSS CAN BE AVOIDED

Taking care of your ears is important in many ways. Hearing loss can be avoided through preventative actions such as protection against loud sounds; good ear care practices and immunization. Cleaning is one step while preventing and treating infections is another. In addition, you should always take steps to avoid unnecessary noise and watch for possible hearing loss in friends and family. Learn more about the hearing system from the Cleveland Clinic here.

3. YOU SHOULD NOT PURCHASE HEARING AIDS ONLINE

Hearing loss can be addressed when it is identified in a timely manner

and appropriate care is sought. In order to maximize the potential of your hearing aids and ensure a proper fit, there is customization required from your audiologist. You'll more than likely have questions, which your audiologist can answer, as well. Sure, you may be able to find less expensive hearing aids online, but you won't receive the care and personal attention your hearing deserves.

People at risk of hearing loss should check their hearing regularly. Call today to book your complimentary hearing test (937) 708-8824
